The Fire Museum of Maryland opened in 1971. It ranks as one of the finest fire fighting museums in the United States, and displays apparatus from 1806 to 1957. The Phoenix Shot Tower - Built in 1828, the landmark Phoenix Shot Tower was the tallest building in the U.S. until 1846. It is 215 feet tall and contains an estimated 1.1 million bricks.
